    Prof. Kola Ajose

Kola began his Jiu Jitsu journey in 1996 at the world renowned Rickson Gracie Jiu Jitsu academy in West Los Angeles, California. He was fortunate to join the academy at a time when the roster included the likes of Luis "Limao" Heredia, Mauricio, Luiz Claudio, Thiago Veiga, Rockson Gracie, Henry Akins, Beau Hershberger, Cristiano Marcello, Niko Han, Gonzalo Medina and many other "assassins"! It was in this lab that the foundation for Kola's Jiu JItsu was developed.

After reuniting with Luiz Claudio and Thiago Veiga in 2013, Kola was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of opening a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy. With the help of Black belt phenom Kyle Cometta, LCCT San Pablo was born. Under the LCCT banner created by Luiz Claudio and Thiago Veiga, Kola has been able to spread the blessing of Kola Ajose Jiu Jitsu FOR ALL PEOPLE TO ENJOY.

After graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in Biology and English, Sam embarked upon a career centered around understanding the efficiency of the human body.

This journey took her through the study of yoga, massage, dance, meditation, martial arts, and medicine. Her goal is to unleash all the ways the body can move for expression, protection, correction and connection.

Sam is a decorated martial artist. She holds black belts in Karate, Kung Fu, Wushu, and Tai Chi. In addition, she is an extremely technical black belt in Jiu Jitsu.

A career in nursing added to her passion of human anatomy, as well as an understanding how to use one’s body for efficiency when in the eye of conflict, makes Sam an exceptional resource as an instructor.

At 5 feet 1inch tall, Sam is not physically imposing. This has forced her to always focus on being efficient and precise with her techniques. As a result, her students have the benefit of understanding that the techniques she shows really do work. After all, if she can disarm a man twice her size, then surely so can they.

I grew up in the Bay Area during the martial arts explosion of the 80's and 90's. I started in traditional martial arts where I learned Boxing, Taekwondo and Kickboxing. I later became interested in strength training and olympic weight lifting.

I started Jiu jitsu in 2007 while competing in MMA. I remember feeling like there was so much to learn, but the technical intricacies were fascinating to me. As I became more proficient I was exposed to a number of other grappling and submission wrestling styles, which blended and helped shape different aspects of my Jiu jitsu. Some of these are No-gi Jiu jitsu, Catch wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling and Judo.

I was promoted to black belt in Jiu jitsu in March of 2023. These days at the gym, whether training or coaching, I’m always still learning. Helping people meet their goals and navigate their Jiu Jitsu journey has become an incredibly rewarding aspect of training for me. I look forward to seeing others grow in the Gentle Art.
